FRED TALKS Tech Tip: Ford Diesel Injector Hold-down Clamps

 

Fred’s Tech Tips are meant to solve a specific issue that has become common with a make/model(s)/year(s) of car and how to resolve it with the help of Bosch’s Family of tools & parts. In this episode, Bosch Automotive Aftermarket’s Fred Padgett discusses the effects of a broken injector hold down clamp in 2011-2012 Ford trucks. Ford trucks can develop rough running conditions due to damage of the piece that holds a diesel injector in place which also leads to DTCs on the instrument panel.

With the help of a Bosch Diagnostics Scan Tool (ADS625X) the user can pinpoint EXACTLY what is causing the rough running conditions on the Ford trucks. Once the issue has been defined with the accurate DTC code, take a second to inspect the fuel injector hold-down clamps on all eight injectors. You may find a broken finger on one or more of the clamps. A broken clamp will result in an injector being not properly sealed which leads to the injector not working correctly. Replacing the broken hold down clamps and the associated seals, can eliminate the fault codes and restore your Ford to its original power and performance levels.
